Dear donors,
Regards from Gram Vikas Trust (GVT),
GVT is filling the gap of teachers in government primary school, for better teaching and learning experiences. In many schools GVT have seen the teachers are not sufficient against the numbers of pupils. And that is the reason why the quality of education is not happening, pupils do not attend the schools regularly. The mindset has set among the communities that the government schools are not performing well, and the marginalized community only send their children to the government schools, who also not taking care of their children’s education.
Para Teachers, by GVT in few government schools have set an example of good teaching learning experiences in the schools, by the help and support of government teachers. The hand in hand approach have set a friendly environment for the pupil, which has also supported a balanced relationship with the government schools and community.
Few months back, government has launched “Mission Vidhya”, which was aimed to make all the pupil to reach to their age appropriate learning level. We (school and GVT), have identified 83 pupils and 7 government schools, who were not able to read and write, and their arithmetic skills were at very basic level. The Mission Vidhya, was for the period of one month, and government has aimed to make all the pupils to reach minimum learning level. In the beginning it was very difficult to believe that how it could be possible that all the children will reach the minimum level of learning.
Government teachers and Para Teachers, have decided and make a plan how to deal with these 83 children, and in the period of one month, how to support them to reach to their best learning level. In out of 7 school, 4 schools have arranged parents meeting to take the support of parents, and community in this mission, in 3 schools, School Management Committee (SMC) were given charge to meet few of the parents personally and try to make their parents convince to take care their children and make them sit for the homework at home. In 1 school, principal and few government teachers and Para Teacher went for door to door visit of the pupils and make them realize about the importance of education.
And the rest 30 days, the government teachers and Para Teachers have tried their best to make the children learn, at the end of the month 71 children have identified who can able to read, write and also their arithmetic skills have improved, the mission could not be 100 percent successful but the teachers were happy at this result, as they were aware about the reality, and these 71 pupils are those, who were not regular in school, their parents do not take care of their children, community is not safe for their teaching learning environment and so many other reasons.
It is rightly said that, “great things in business are never done by one person, they are done by a team of people.”
Thanking you for your continuous support.
