The humanitarian crisis in Palestine has continued to deteriorate throughout 2024–2025, with the Gaza conflict entering its 683rd day without a clear resolution. Since March 2025, the blockade has severely restricted the entry of humanitarian aid, cutting off access to food, water, and medical supplies. The situation escalated in May 2025 when more than 2,000 people lost their lives while waiting for humanitarian assistance, and over 12,000 children suffered from acute malnutrition, leading the United Nations to declare Gaza in a state of famine
The impact of the crisis has been catastrophic. As of August 2025, more than 61,000 people had been killed and over 151,000 injured, while approximately two million individuals were displaced. Infrastructure damage was extensive, including the destruction of 91 percent of schools, 50 percent of hospitals, and more than 436,000 housing units. In addition, 96 percent of households in Gaza were unable to access clean water, further compounding public health risks and humanitarian needs.
Human Initiative implemented a collaborative humanitarian response involving local partners on the ground, the Government of Indonesia through the Indonesia Humanitarian Alliance, and sustained support from donors and volunteers. Since October 2023, this collaboration enabled the delivery of humanitarian aid through Egypt, including food assistance, clean water distribution, medical support, ambulance services, winter relief items, psychosocial support, and emergency education services for affected children in Gaza, Egypt, and Jordan
By 31 July 2025, Human Initiative had reached 328,242 rights-holders across Palestine, Egypt, and Jordan through various humanitarian programs. These included food packages, clean water access, medical assistance, cash aid, winter supplies, emergency schooling, and qurban distributions for Palestinian refugees. This response reflects Human Initiative’s ongoing commitment to upholding humanitarian principles and sustaining lifesaving assistance for Palestinian communities amid one of the most severe humanitarian crises in recent history
