Since our last report, we've learned that 100 kits have been completed and distributed to girls at Ayany Primary School. We had reported that 200 kits were complete, but that was a miscommunication; there wasn't enough fabric to finish all of them. The good news is that more fabric has been sourced, and tailors are working hard to complete the rest of the 200 kits, which the $5000.00 raised on GlobalGiving will pay for! They are on schedule to distribute the rest of the kits at the beginning of September.
In the meantime, the educational piece is absolutely crucial to the project, and we are thrilled to share with you that the girls have completed 10 weeks of training about sexuality and self awareness! During the August holiday, the girls have also begun practical activities, such as knitting.
Eliminate Poverty Now received a generous outside grant for Pads for Peace. Go to our blog to find out more. Aside from that outside grant, we are so happy to have received more support for this project with the new donations we've gotten through GlobalGiving that will enable us to provide even more girls with these kits.
Thank you so, so much!
