The sunny days are soon coming to an end as the rainy season is set to begin. We have planted ground nuts and sesame on the land and await the crops to be ready. We will have to wait to build after the rainy season is over so that the job can be completed properly!
The children are in their first semester of the new school year and all are doing well. They are enjoying being back in the North... back to the land that they know and hold so dear. Auntie Grace has been able to find some distant relatives to re-connect some of the children, which has been good for them. Unfortunately Daniels grandmother died, but he and Auntie were able to attend the burial and say their goodbyes. Joyce has been able to spend some time with her grandma as well and connect with some siblings and cousins. Joyce was living with her grandma before she came to us. At the time, Joyce was quite sick and needed some extra care and attention. Joyce is deciding whether to go back to live with her grandmother as she is now getting older and needs extra care and attention. Due to our new location we have the ability to be close and support her.
Grandmothers in Uganda are so important. Many are supporting house loads of children who have lost their parents. It is very draining on them with a lack of resources and often deteriorating health. They have such big hearts and are such a key to the community of care surrounding the children. They have undeniable strength to keep going under such hardship... and always so warm and caring and welcoming...
Thank you for your continued support to our project. Please work with us so that we can continue our much needed work and be able to reach out to more children that need our help. A further donation will allow us to build housing on the land and a space from which to run our outreach programs. We need your help to be able to do this!
