After a decade of transformative work in Bajo de los Anonos, we were thrilled to expand the Lifting Hands program to the community of Los Diques in Cartago province. Our decision to extend our reach came after careful evaluation, and we quickly discovered that Los Diques offered the perfect environment for success. The community is filled with hardworking, grateful individuals eager to seize opportunities for growth. Since our arrival, we've witnessed the incredible resilience and potential of its people, transforming the lives of many through both practical skills training and educational support.
One of the most inspiring outcomes has been the success stories emerging from the community. Carla, a mother of three, had struggled to make ends meet before joining our program. Today, she runs a successful bakery. “Lifting Hands didn’t just give me skills; they gave me hope,” she shares. Additionally, 16-year-old Diego, once uncertain about his future, is now excelling academically and preparing to attend university to study. These stories reflect the deep, lasting impact of the program, as we see individuals not only improve their own lives but also uplift their families and communities.
The success of this expansion would not have been possible without the support of GlobalGiving and our generous donors. With their help, we’ve been able to provide the tools and resources needed to spark positive change in Los Diques. The community's collaborative spirit has been inspiring—neighbors helping neighbors to create a sustainable future. The Lifting Hands program has proven that with opportunity and support, even the most underserved communities can thrive. We are excited for what the future holds and look forward to continuing this journey alongside the people of Los Diques.
