New Shelter for Sex Trafficking Survivors Update

By Becky Davis | Associate Director of Operations

The biggest news for Grace House in this quarter is with our networking progress. Before Covid-19, our networking and government connections had really been a struggle. However, the last few months of 2022 have brought significant open doors for several government and non-government relationships.

These relationships are really important for referring survivors who need care and all kinds of support, resourcing, and collaboration. We are making new friends with similar hearts in every aspect of what we do, and it will improve how we can care well for every survivor.

We hired a new counselor for our residential program! She is currently training and supporting families in the cemetery communities we work with in East Java.

The rest of the core residential staff have been learning a revised care strategy that will incorporate a resident’s family and entire community in her care and strengthen the entire program. They continue to work with local families in the cemetery communities, as well.

We continue to screen new properties weekly in hopes of identifying a new shelter location. We hope to make a decision in this coming quarter for a new Grace House location.

We are looking forward to the season ahead - to what doors continue to open and to the lives we will be invited to journey with.

Thank you for continuing to join us on our own journey!
