Our efforts in establishing the first Learning Resources Center (LRC) in Guinea is coming to an end. After a challenging rainy season in Guinea with lots of flooding, for the past three months, we have been experiencing many logistical challenges in completing this project. Thankfully, we are back on track and finalizing the setup. Our team in Guinea has completed a retouch on the paintings on the wall, put all the tables and chairs back, and will be returning the books to the shelves in the coming weeks.
We cannot express enough how grateful and happy we are for this accomplishment. Throughout this process, GAED and CCML have been privileged to see the direct effect of the project on the face of the community. The kids, the youth, and even the elderly people in the community are excited about what we are doing. All this is thanks to our sponsors and our donors. Your help will directly impact many generations to come and you should be very proud.
GAED is extending the opportunity to mirror its first LRC at another facility in Guinea, at the University of “Générale Lansana Conte, Sonfonia” in the capital city of Conakry. The goal of this project is to establish a computer lab in the University where the students on campus will be able to improve their computer skills and conduct educational research. We plan on traveling to Guinea at the end of the year and officially open both facilities to their respective communities.
We are truly humbled and honored to have worked with you all to make this possible. Let’s continue to work hard in making education accessible to all!
Sincerely,
Mariama Diallo
