By Mariama D Diallo | GAED Director of Finance
Since our last reporting period, GAED has accomplished a great deal in regards to the LRC project. Of our many initiatives, we have hosted two events to promote and fundraise for the project. The main event took place on February 18, 2017 at Widener University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. We chose to host an event out of state in order to expand our audience and support base. As an organization, we presented to the audience the purpose, goals, and aims of the Learning Resources Center (LRC) project. We also played our promotional video , which GAED and a CCML representative created and completed in February. (The video has been linked to this report). Overall, this event was a success. We were able to network with many people, gain more support for our project and organization, diversify our audience, and raise money.
GAED was successfully able to make a payment towards the renovation of the first LRC located in Conakry, Guinea. The learning center will be complete and ready for use by April 23, 2017, the opening ceremony day of the Conakry World Book Capital Event.
We are very pleased and excited by the success and progress of this project. We would like to thank everyone who has assisted us out at our various events and who have and promoted and donated to our project.
Thank your continued support and interest in GAED & CCML’s Learning Resources Center Project. Without your help, we would not have been able to make it this far along
