AIP Foundation and Vietnam Garments Manufacturing Limited recently concluded the Helmets for Kids project in Vinh Phuc province, Viet Nam. Through a span of 8 months from November 2020 - June 2021, we have reached a total of 1.3 million people with our awareness raising activities and directly supported 658 students, 32 teachers with our road safety interventions. A total of 436 helmets were also donated to the students and teachers. As the program came to an end, we collected our beneficiaries feedback and received many positive and encouraging reflections on the program’s impact and our work.
A student from Son Loi A Primary school shared: “I was always feeling unsafe when going to school, because the school is located near a road with many trucks and cars. Sometimes I walked to school, sometimes I got on motorbike. Lots of my friends who ride bicycles are truly facing traffic risks every single day. When taking part in the project, students of Son Loi A primary school are aware that helmet wearing is a must not only for motorbikes but also for bicycles to help prevent head injuries. The helmet is a gift that my classmates and I will always cherish… Besides, the Helmet Handover Ceremony was so wonderful ”.
Ms. Ngo Thi Lan, principal of Son Loi A Primary school also wrote to us that: “I believe that helmet wearing needs to become a habit of people, especially children. Thanks to the project, our students got beautiful helmets that they would treasure as their close friends for years. Our teachers also benefited from learning how to communicate with children about the importance of helmet wearing via “edutainment” activities ”.
Their sharings add to the concrete testament for the work AIP Foundation has achieved on the ground to bring safer roads across Asia, and are genuine inspiration for us to continue fighting for our cause. As road safety is not a problem that can be solved in a day, but one that requires consistent effort and active participation, visit our website here to see how you can support to ensure safe roads for every child.
