As 2010 comes to a close, the Asia Injury Prevention (AIP) Foundation is busier than ever working to make your roads safer.
November 2010 marked the one-year anniversary of the launch of the Global Helmet Vaccine Initiative, an international coalition of road safety stakeholders dedicated to bringing AIP Foundation's proven road safety model to the developing world. In the past year, we've launched helmet programs in Senegal, Cambodia, the Philippines, Nicaragua, and Lebanon based on our success in Vietnam.
We're still hard at work in Vietnam though! In the past month, we've launched three road safety education programs at Vietnamese schools and have even recruited some local celebrities to join our cause. On November 18th, movie star Kathy Uyen and Australian Idol Thanh Bui joined AIP Foundation as Goodwill Ambassadors to commemorate victims and families on The World Day of Remembrance for Road Crash Victims.
On December 4th, AIP Foundation's President Greig Craft received the Federation Internationale de Motorcyclisme's first annual Road Safety Award at their gala awards ceremony in Portugal:
"This is the first road safety award ever made by the FIM and reflects our concern about the global crisis arising from road traffic crashes," said Vito Ippolito, FIM President. "AIP Foundation's pioneering achievements in the area of child helmet use, and especially its innovation and creation of the affordable 'tropical' helmet, have demonstrated unparalleled leadership and solutions."
Here's to a successful 2010 and an even busier 2011!
