Make Motherhood Safe for Tanzanian Women

Dear Friends,

I’m excited to write to you today: your support, and the support of other like minded donors, over the past few weeks has raised over $22,000 to make life saving care available to the people we serve. Together with our partner CCBRT we want to say ‘asante sana’: thank you so much!

With just two weeks left in 2018, we’re reaching out to give you an update on what your generosity means.

For women like Flora, your support empowers clinical staff to provide the high quality care needed to ensure safe deliveries and respectful care for mothers and their newborns. Well-trained staff with access to the necessary equipment and supplies are better able to support normal deliveries and respond effectively in an emergency. 

Flora gave birth in a routine delivery in Dar es Salaam. She shared, “The doctors and nurses treated me well. I thank them and all the others who have helped me and my newborn son receive these good services.” Thanks to your generosity, and the hard work of CCBRT’s Maternal Health Capacity Building Program operating in 23 facilities throughout the region, Flora’s experience was a healthy and happy one.

Flora’s story is meaningful because she had the care she needed. Had she given birth in Dar es Salaam eight years ago, she might have had a very different experience. Thanks to your support we’ve been able to contribute to a 670% improvement in quality of care since 2012.

We want to ensure that every mother can have a healthy, respectful delivery. Your support helps our team move closer to making this vision a reality for thousands of Tanzanian mothers and families, just like Flora’s, every day.
