Raising funds for our project has been very challenging. We are still hopeful that our members, friends, supporters and potential donors will one day understand the importance of our environmental center project in Haiti and find it in their heart to support our cause to help us make our project a reality.
We are continuing with our efforts to seek partnerships for the project from corporations and private foundations. Our technical and educational plan is now ready. The building design and the selection of sustainable building material is ready. The only obstacle in our way is funding.
To give some brief information on why the center is needed and would benefit all in Haiti. Haiti's poor are hungrier than ever before. Unable to grow enough food to feed their families, too many have resorted to cutting down more trees to make the commodity of choice "Charcoal", the main source of fuel in the country. It is precisely because they are extremely poor that they are unable to protect their environment or improve their production. Low-technology advancements that can make trees more profitable, like grafting of fruit trees are not widely available enough to make the necessary impact and get the results. Our environmental center will give access to knowledge, training and information about better agricultural techniques and environmental conservation practices. In cruel irony, it is the very steps they take to stay alive today, such as cutting down of trees to make charcoal that lead to the destruction of their environment and their inability to produce the food they need to live tomorrow.
We are committed and dedicated as ever to the project. We already have the land which is a huge step, we just need the financial support to build our center. We are counting on your support.
Peace & Blessings,
