Our team just came back from Arcahaie last week to work on our environmental center & volunteer village. We worked with engineers on surveys. Met with various residents to discuss the project. The 1st phase of the project will include, fencing, adequate bathroom & kitchen facilities as well as security.
Our team decided on fencing 6 acres out of the 30 on the first phase. The volunteer village will be built first. We are planning to have our first group of volunteers on the site by summer 2011.
After extensive research on the subject, our team decided to build with bamboo a renewable resource. The buildings will be earthquake and hurricane proof. Currently a construction firm in Colombia with expertise in bamboo construction, wants to join our project. We will post more details on our next report.
We are thankful to Architect for Humanity with their amazing and talented Architects and Engineers working and donating their time. Architects such as Levy Castaneda, Jennifer Siquiera and others. Below is the link to our updated design and plan.
We are aggressively pursuing our fund-raising efforts on Global Giving and other avenues. We need your financial support to meet our goal.
