Going to Alpha Soon

Good day all,
We have been making good progress on the Agavi system. Our Romanian volunteers have been hard at work this summer on building out the digital infrastructure for the system, including the login page, dashboard, experiences landing page, and author system for building new on-location teaching experiences which include a number of learning blocks, like text, multiple choice, GPS location, and others that can be mixed and matched to create activities for learners. With a few more weeks of build time we should be able to reach alpha stage and begin testing with teachers to better understand if the system is meeting their needs and what changes we need to make to help make Agavi more user friendly and useful.
Additionally, here in Brazil we are continuing our work with our Atlantic rain forest communities and native bee education, as part of our Greenworks program. Once Agavi is in a good state, we'll start developing teaching resources to help support this project and test out how well Agavi works in public education in the deep rain forest. We're looking forward to these results!

Upcoming On-Location Work

Greetings all,
Just a quick update on our Agavi project. Our Romanian and Brazilian team is in the process of constructing the prototype for Agavi that we aim to be testing later this year. So far, they have constructed the landing and account management pages and are busy working on the activity editor, which will allow a teacher to quickly construct activities that use the field environment to teach. We anticipate rapid progress in the next few months with testing to begin later this year.
Meanwhile, we are deepening our connections with the local community at Guapiruvu in the Atlantic Forest through our Greenworks project. In addition to helping students at Universidade Estadual de Campinas develop extension projects (and understand how extension projects require deep connection with the Guapiruvu agroforestry community), we are talking with the community to better understand their teaching and extension needs, especially around native bees (as part of our Greenworks initiative). As we complete these conversations and site visits in the next few weeks, we will begin work on identifying the content and teacher partners who will be interested in testing Agavi as the system comes online.

Exciting 2024 Plans!

Greetings all!
Wishing you a happy new year and thank you for your continuing support of our projects. Agavi construction is continuing, with significant progress made by our Romanian and Brazilian volunteers in getting the base system designed and programmed over the last few months. In the next few months, we expect to have a working prototype that we will begin testing with our teachers to get their initial impressions, with the goal of wider deployment by the end of the year. We'll be deploying a major Greenworks project in Brazil in the next few months that will focus on public education on native bees, important pollinators in tropical communities. We'll be working to incorporate Agavi into this project in the Brazilian agroforestry community of Guapiruvu to gauge reaction both by the teachers who will be testing it and the people who will be using it to learn about bees. We're excited to be making inroads into our communities soon with expansion to more of Brazil later in the year. Stay tuned for more!
