Hi everyone,
Since our last update, the energy has honestly not slowed down one bit, even if donations have! Getting those children out of the classroom and onto a beach, many for the very first time, was an incredible moment, and the ripple effect has kept going ever since. Story time back at school has gone fully marine focused, and the children have been eager to get involved in litter picks and learn more about the ocean they got to touch and see.
Winter is here now, and with donations coming in a little slower, we have had to get creative. Instead of only taking children out to the water, we are flipping it and bringing the ocean to them. We are reaching out to marine specialists to come and visit our schools directly, and we are using the funds trickling in to buy marine themed books so the learning can keep going even when the buses are not rolling.
Here is what is on the horizon. We would love to take one pre-school group of 52 children, aged 2 to 5, to the local aquarium. The Aquarium has generously offered to cover 50 percent of the cost, but we still need to raise funds for the bus and cover the remaining $5 per child. It is within reach, and every donation gets us closer.
Which brings us to the exciting bit. We are officially joining GlobalGiving's Bonus Day campaign! From 10am EDT on July 15th, any donation over $100 will be proportionally matched. If you have been waiting for the right moment to make a bigger splash, this is it.
Thank you for sticking with us through the quieter months. The tide always turns, and with you behind us, we know it is turning back in our favour. Let's get these kids back in the water.
With vitamin-sea and gratitude,
