FROM HUNGER TO HOPE: THE IMPACT OF SCHOOL MEALS

By Othieno Gerald | Project Leader

Dear Friends,

We are honored to share the progress made possible through your support of the Nutritious School Meals for Girls in Rural Uganda project.

For many girls in rural communities, hunger remains a significant obstacle to education. Arriving at school without food often affects concentration, attendance, and academic performance. Through your generosity, girls are receiving nutritious meals that are transforming their school experience.

This reporting period, beneficiary schools reported encouraging improvements in attendance and participation. Teachers observed that girls receiving meals were more attentive in class, engaged more confidently in discussions, and demonstrated greater enthusiasm for learning.

The benefits extend beyond education. Nutritious meals support healthy growth, improve well-being, and provide a sense of security for children from vulnerable households. Parents and guardians have shared how the program has reduced the burden of providing meals during difficult economic times.

Most importantly, your support is replacing uncertainty with hope. Girls who once worried about hunger can now focus on building their futures through education.

As food insecurity continues to affect many families, the demand for school feeding programs remains high. Your contributions are helping ensure that vulnerable girls have access to both nutrition and education.

Thank you for making this impact possible. Together, we are turning hunger into hope and helping girls pursue brighter futures.

With gratitude,

The Girl Child Foundation Uganda
