The anwer es yes! One of our goals is to ensure that people living in poverty can have health and proper nutrition. In times of Covid-19, we feared that families would not have anything to eat. However, their backyard gardens saved the day! With the gardens, the families had vegetables and vegetables and did not suffer so severely from food shortages.
Currently, 19 girls, 11 boys, 5 adolescents, and 82 adults have improved their eating conditions and are gradually improving their health. One of those people is Doña Estela, who has been supported with training and infrastructure for a chicken coop. She lives in the community of Canech, in Chiapas, and since she has participated in Amextra, she has dedicated herself to raising poultry, and growing coffee and corn.
“When it rained, a lot of water came in and my chickens got wet and often got sick; the floor of the chicken coop was dirt and the space was very small. The new chicken coop is bigger and now has a cement floor and is covered to keep out the cold and rain. I am hopeful that it will improve my poultry production and that I will be able to produce more chickens for my family.”
Doña Estela has been producing with the new chicken coop for 2 months and now has around 80 birds. The eggs are used for consumption, and to hatch and thus have new birds.
Thanks to your support, rural families have improved their chances of achieving food sufficiency, as well as earning income to invest in children's health and education.
Without you none of this would be possible. Thank you so much for being part of the transformation!
