By John Manganyi | Project Leader
Our kids registration in January went super well with new parents attending after not able to meet due to Covid-19 lockdown restrictions. We welcomed 5 new kids who fit the organization’s criteria quite well.
Jone[Not her real name] came from family consisting of a mother and father with both being HIV positive. Jone was born positive and often a very sickly skinny child not smiling much as things at home are not going well due to parents fighting almost every day. Jone is settling in quite well, now able to finish a meal and starting to gain some weight due to Nucleo powder the kids are drinking at the end of the program. We are starting to Jone’s little smile after few months of being with us and we trust that the will be a transformation in her come end of the year.
Challenges
- Covid 19 has affected are income in a big way though we still grateful and thankful for the little things we are receiving daily. Due to Visa situation, we are not able to receive as many international volunteers whom we are charging rent as part of our income generating strategy.
Opportunities
- Prince has been challenged to take over the role of AfterSchool Co-Leader, it’s awesome to see more locals take responsibility and he is very excited about it.
- To conduct more HIV & AIDS in the community as many who are HIV positive are still afraid to share their status with others including their kids due to stigma.
Story
Khulu[Name changed] is a grade R[7 Year old] who didn’t want to come to the center due to being scared of new environment, he is now one who call other to come to Meetse, he enjoys the Nucleo powder milk shake and his skin is also doing better since he’s also taking ARVs. We are trusting that Hope will be restored in the life of this little one.
