NOT MAGIC BUT NUCLEO

by AIDSLink Zambia

It is more than 12 years since Mary and Charles have been living with HIV and an encouraging part of their story is that their kids have accepted the status of their parents. Mary and Charles got married 25 years ago although they didn’t know much about HIV at that time because very few people had knowledge about it. As time went by, they realized their immune systems were very weak and it was had to believe that they had HIV. One member of our AIDSLink Team shared empowering information about the virus, then they were able to take a step and start the ARV medication.

Our AIDSLink leader at the time introduced this couple to Nucleo, which is a nutritional supplement.  They began taking Nucleo and their health improved amazingly. Charles hadn’t been able to work because he didn’t have the strength, but after beginning with his ARVs and taking this supplement, his health improved. Now he can work and provide for his family and his wife Mary is able to do house work. Mary shared that it is amazing to see that their overall health has improved in such a way that the virus is undectable in Mary.

AIDSLink is also educating and bringing awareness on how to live a positive life with HIV. In some cases we have been able to provide some of the food supplements to people living with HIV and AIDS. We are making sure that people know and understand the value of having a good diet to enable their bodies to fully benefit from the ARV therapy. So far we are touching more than 50 lives with this Nucleo supplement and most of them are responding very well.
