Growing in strength and health

Emily*, started attending the After School Programme in 2017. She came in as a little girl, not saying much, struggling to eat the meals that were provided. Often she was not feeling well, being too tired to join in play time and work at her homework. In the following months, she turned out to be a not-shy-at-all little girl, feeling free to play games, standing up for herself and being able to finish her plate. Although eating is still not her favourite thing, she sees the importance of it and she is physically getting stronger.

Impact

In the afterschool programme in 2017 we were able to help 25 children and their families physically by providing lunch, fruit snack and milkshake (Nucleo) four afternoons a week, and handing out food parcels every week.

By getting these regular meals and extras we see the children grow physically, but also in their school results, socially and emotionally.

On the long-term we want to see the children grow to be adults who can provide for themselves and their families, without being limited by their health and abilities. That way they can make an impact in their families and communities, and reach out to others that need help.
