SUPPORTING FAMILIES OF CHILDREN WITH NODDING SYNDROME

INTRODUCTION:
Support to families of children with Nodding Syndrome is a sub – component of the Project, Feed, Educate Empower Women and Girls of Acholi funded by GlobalGiving and Implementation by River Fund HIV/Aids Family Support Women Association a CBO located in Kitgum District, Northern Uganda. The River Fund USA provide Leadership.
OBITUARY:
One of the beneficiary by the name Kilama of Laraba Village, Okidi Parish died in December 2019 when he went to bath and was drowned in the river due to Nodding Syndrome.
FOOD ITEMS DISTRIBUTION:
We have not yet distributed any food item to the identified victims. This is because we wanted to square the school fees first and since it is still the period which people have just harvested some food stuff but when balance is realized after paying school fees, we shall buy those items and distribute to them.

NTRODUCTION:
The Girl’s Education Sponsorship is a sub – component of the Feed, Educate, Empower Women and Girls of Acholi supported by GlobalGiving. It is implemented by River Fund HIV/Aids Family Support Women Association a CBO located in Kitgum District, Northern Uganda. The River Fund USA provides Leadership
The Project aims to help prevent drop outs of secondary school girls through provision of school fees, sanitary pads and mentoring.
NUMBER OF GIRLS UNDER SPONSORSHIP IN 2020:
In 2019, the organization had twelve (12) girls. Of these, seven (07) sat for “O” Level final examination, while five (05) girls will sit their “O” Level this year. As per the meeting we had with you, we had agreed to increase the number of girls to twenty (20). The executive identified the new fifteen (15) girls who have just to enter Senior One (S.1) this year. The admission letter says they will begin school on the 18th February, 2020. The executive tried to reach some of these girls’ homes to find out the truth about their vulnerability.
PAYMENT OF SCHOOL FEES:
Fees will be paid immediately they begin school. The executive discussed and agreed to pay fees not more than Two Hundred Thousand Shillings (200,000/-) for the new girls while balance will be met by their parents while the continuing girls will be paid fully.
