Since November 2015, 142 donations have raised nearly $10,000 and purchased nearly as many meals for homeless and low-income women in Washington, DC. Thank you for your support.
People experience homelessness for all sorts of reasons; lack of affordable housing, medical emergencies, job loss, mental health concerns or the death of a loved one.
Diane never thought she would experience homelessness. Despite the challenges, she describes the resources that have helped her since coming to Bethany Women’s Center. Bethany staff connected her to health services, enrollment for Medicaid and Social Security benefits, and permanent housing placements. Bethany Women’s Center has also offered her nutritious meals and activities to occupy her time as she waits for services to be available.
Diane describes her current situation as, “a temporary way of life.” We will celebrate with her when she transitions into her permanent home.
