Michelle has been coming to Bethany Women’s Center on and off for two years. She has a smile and an incredibly resilient spirit that help her keep moving forward. She first came to N Street Village in 2015 when she experienced homelessness the first time. She was placed in housing through the District of Columbia’s Coordinated Entry system but due to difficult circumstances, she was unable to maintain that housing placement. When she became homeless again, she knew where she could come for help. Even within the difficult reality of needing to come back to N Street Village for services, she is glad to have a safe place where she was welcomed back. She is thriving again and attending the Goodwill Excel Center, an adult Charter High School. She will soon earn her high school diploma. She is determined and looking toward a better future.
Michelle is one of the nearly 1,500 women who have come to Bethany Women’s Center for meals, other supportive services and community. Last year we served over 65,000 meals – never turning away someone in need. We are grateful to the fifty-nine donors who have purchased nearly 2,000 of those meals.
Every dollar helps! As the weather turns colder, we will begin serving more women through the winter. We are open every day regardless of weather closures to serve every woman who walks through the door.
