Support Nearly 3,000 Homeless Women in DC

"Our Village has been open every day for 48 years for any and all women in need. We’ve been there through every day of every storm. And tomorrow will be no different." N Street Village's Chief Executive Officer recently closed an email to staff with this sentiment. 

In every day since the COVID-19 pandemic started, Bethany Women's Center has been open to meet the needs of women experiencing homelessness. We've made some necessary adjustments, including suspending volunteer engagement and offering nonperishable sack lunches instead of the regular hot lunches. However, essential services are still being delivered.

During this time we have been bouyed by the thoughts and prayers of hundreds, maybe thousands more who are the donors, partners and other stakeholders of N Street Village. The notes of support have been pouring in this past week. Encouragements included:

• We look forward to getting back to our regular volunteer shifts at Patricia Handy but know that in the meantime the women and staff are in our prayers.
• You are true soldiers on this uncertain battle. Thank you!
• Thanks to NSV and all the amazing staff that continue to work hard in these difficult times. You are truly on the front lines and your commitment is inspiring.
• We are truly grateful for you and your staff’s dedicated service in these most trying times serving those who are most vulnerable in our society.
• This is a unique challenge in the 48 year history of NSV and we are truly blessed to have all of you at this time.
