Since November 2015, 159 donors have raised over $11,305 and purchased nearly as many meals for homeless and low-income women in Washington, DC. Thank you for your support!
People experience homelessness for all sorts of reasons; lack of affordable housing, medical emergencies, job loss, mental health concerns or the death of a loved one.
Ms. B first came to N Street Village three months ago. In her words, “I was homeless and helpless.” Now, she says, “I am receiving inspiration, guidance and help in obtaining my goals. I have moved into the Temporary Senior residence of [N Street Village’s] Patricia Handy Place for Women, which allows me to have my own private space.
Ms. B thanks GlobalGiving’s community for their support. “N Street Village has afforded me the option to come in daily and participate in activities where we can be inspired and share our troubles and concerns. I also get to eat breakfast and lunch every day.” Ms. B. is pursuing her pathway out of homelessness; she recently started back working part-time. She says, “Now, I see light at the end of the tunnel.”
N Street Village and Bethany Women’s Center will be here for Ms. B and every woman experiencing homelessness in DC who comes through our doors looking for a meal, support getting back on their feet and something to look forward to.
