Since November 2015, 173 donations have raised over $11,000 and purchased nearly as many meals for homeless and low-income women in Washington, DC. Thank you for your support.
People experience homelessness for all sorts of reasons; lack of affordable housing, medical emergencies, job loss, mental health concerns or the death of a loved one.
Ms. Benter came to Bethany Women's Center in February 2017. Ms. Benter entered a shelter after she unexpectedly lost her housing and couldn't find new affordable housing. Ms. Benter describes her first impression upon entering N Street Village; "I met the wonderful Evelyn Green, the program manager at N Street, and her warm smile and welcoming personality made me feel at home."
Ms. Benter Is working towards gaining affordable housing and a permanent job so that she can get back on her feet and live a normal life again. She says N Street Village has the ability to, "restore hope to the hopeless female" and "makes the expression of 'come as you are' ring true."
N Street Village and Bethany Women's Center will be here for Ms. Benter and every woman experiencing homelessness in DC who comes through our doors looking for a meal, support getting back on their feet and something to look forward to.
