Report Period: May - July 2016
Activities carried out this quarter.
Activity 1: Support to households of Nodding Syndrome Patients.
Following the training that was conducted earlier, 11 households that were initially identified were supported with food and non food items. Each household received 2 kgs of sugar, 1.5 kg of salt, 2 bars of washing soap,4 kgs of beans,1.5 litres of cooking oil, and 4 kgs of fish(sardines).this support shall be given every two months. The quantity of items distributed shall further increase or decrease with the availability of funds.
Activity 2: Support with Sanitary towels.
8 girls out of the 17 children from the 11 households being supported received two packets each of sanitary towels. This is to help them and their care givers in promoting good personal hygiene especially during their menstrual cycle. Like the food items, this support will be given every two months.
Achievements:
11 households were supported with both food and non food items.
8 adolescent girls suffering from the Nodding Syndrome received 2 packets of sanitary pads each.
Way forwards:
Provide support of food and non food items to the households every two months.
Hold discussion sessions with caregivers of Adolescent girls on hygiene, reproductive health issues.
Provide counseling to caregivers/ parents of NS children.
Conclusion:
We are so thankful to Global Giving and The River Fund for this support. We could not have done this without all of your help.
