Project Report | Jun 24, 2026
Fully loaded Comfort Cases

By Heidi Webb | Grants Writer

Reporting Period: January 1, 2026 – May 31, 202

When a child is removed from their home and placed into foster care, they are routinely handed a trash bag to carry whatever few belongings they can gather. It is a profound indignity during an already traumatic moment. At Comfort Cases, our mission is to end this practice. Because of your continued generosity, the first five months of 2026 have been a period of incredible impact for the youth we serve.

We are writing to share how your funding has directly translated into dignity, ownership, and hope this year.

By the Numbers: January – May 2026

Between January 1 and May 31, 2026, your support enabled us to successfully distribute 18,607 fully loaded Comfort Cases and Comfort XLs to youth transitioning into the foster care system.

  • Initial Q1 Distribution: 13,518 cases

  • Comfort XL Distribution: 5,089 cases

  • Total Impact: 18,607 youth reached

Every backpack and duffel bag was meticulously packed to serve specific age groups, ensuring the contents were age-appropriate and immediately useful:

  • Infants & Toddlers: Filled with soft sleepwear, receiving blankets, baby wash, and age-appropriate books.

  • Children: Packed with fun, comforting pajamas, hygiene kits, a stuffed animal to hold, and an engaging book.

  • Teens: Specifically designed with adult-sized sleepwear, full-sized hygiene essentials (including deodorant and dental care), journals, and books—ensuring older youth, who are often overlooked in the system, feel respected and seen.

The Impact of a Fully Loaded Case

A Comfort Case is far more than a backpack filled with items; it is a psychological reset.

For a child experiencing displacement, receiving a high-quality bag filled with brand-new, personal essentials provides immediate physical comfort and a crucial sense of ownership. A warm blanket, fresh pajamas, and a toothbrush of their own offer a foundation of normalcy in an unfamiliar environment. Most importantly, replacing a trash bag with a fully loaded Comfort Case sends a clear, powerful message to that child: You matter, you are valued, and you deserve dignity.

Looking Ahead

As we move into the second half of 2026, the influx of children entering the system continues. Because of your partnership, we are better equipped than ever to meet them at the door of their new placement with a backpack instead of a trash bag.

Thank you for refusing to accept the status quo for our most vulnerable youth. Your investment is actively rewriting their narrative and providing comfort when they need it most.

With deepest gratitude,

The Comfort Cases Team
