Summary

This project will provide new Comfort Cases and duffel bags, instead of trash bags, to more than 40,000 children entering foster care in 2024! When children are removed from their homes by police or social services, they are often given a trash bag to carry their belongings. "I remember carrying a trash bag and feeling worthless, like nobody cared about me." - Comfort Cases founder, Rob Scheer. Help us provide dignity and a Comfort XL duffel bag for children entering the foster care system.

Challenge

Many people believe that when abused and neglected children are removed from their homes, child welfare agencies provide them with everything they need. This is sadly not true. Often children are handed a trash bag to carry their belongings. Many kids move from home to home while they are in foster care and they often have to carry their things in a trash bag each time they are placed in a new home.

Solution

This project will provide Comfort Cases & Comfort XL duffel bags, instead of trash bags, to children in foster care. When children who have never been given anything of their own are handed a brand new bag to carry their things, it sends the message that despite what they are going through, they matter. The Comfort XL was designed to be compact enough when folded up to fit on a social worker's shelf or in the trunk of a police car, so that they are always on hand instead of a trash bag.

Long-Term Impact

Together we will instill a sense of dignity and hope that leads to healing and increased self-esteem.
