We are grateful that the school is open and students are attending regular classes even after a Mudslide ran into our community this past February. It cost the lives of 14 people and damaged 7 of our student's homes.
So far we've worked hard with private and public institutions to help the most vulnerable with food, medical aid, and material to clean and rebuild. We thank God that our structure was protected and the Foundation didn't have any damage. The natural disaster did delay the school year a month but we are able to serve our community once again. We wanted to share the story of Jordy as you've been so kindly involved in bringing the internet to our student's homes so they can continue their education.
Jordy is 10 years old and lives only with his father as their mom abandoned their household. These past 2 years have been really tough on his father economically and the mudslide took part of his house. With all the damage and his tight budget, he couldn't afford to pay the minimum fee for Jordy to attend school anymore. Fortunately, a donor took care of his education for the whole year, and thanks to the funds raised in this campaign we could provide him with a computer to start his remedial classes and soon be incorporated with the rest of his classmates.
Thanks to you and your generous heart we've served over 250 students with computers and internet access and we are still working to find ways to serve these children in need. You are part of their development and provide the hope of a bright future.
Even during Schoenstatt’s early days, Father Kentenich told us:
“We want to learn. Not only you but myself as well. We want to learn from each other, for we are never done learning, especially in the art of self-education, which represents the work, the action, the undertaking of our whole life.”
Blessings to all.
