We are pleased to share an update on our farmland development project in Warri, Delta State, Nigeria. In our last report, we announced the launch of a pilot with three local farmers, each allocated a portion of farmland to cultivate cassava and yam. That pilot remains in progress.
The project is designed so participating farmers keep the crops grown on their allocated plots. They may use their harvest to feed their families or sell it at local markets, with any income from those sales remaining with them. As the pilot continues, we aim to learn how access to farmland can support household food security and livelihoods.
We are continuing to follow the farmers’ progress and will use what we learn to assess the next phase. We do not yet have verified harvest results or household outcomes to report. We will share those findings when they become available.
We also want to let our supporters know that Venerable Sydney Children’s Wellness Center has rebranded as Sydney Global Wellness Arts & Culture Foundation. Our new name reflects the wider scope of our work in community wellness, arts and culture. Our commitment to the farmers and families involved in the Warri project continues.
Thank you for supporting this work and for following the pilot as it develops. We look forward to sharing its next confirmed milestones with you.
