Dear friends, in this report we are going to talk about the IMPACT OF FREE TRANSPORTATION SERVICE FOR FAMILIES OF CHILDREN WITH CANCER

The free transportation service we offer has a profound and multifaceted impact on families of children with cancer, especially those from low-income communities. Below are the most significant benefits of our service:

I. ACCESS TO MEDICAL TREATMENTS:

One of the main obstacles that low-income families face is access to adequate health care. Our transportation service ensures that children can arrive on time to their medical appointments and treatments, eliminating the barrier of transportation cost. This is essential to ensure continuity of care and improve chances of recovery.

II.    FINANCIAL STRESS REDUCTION:

The expenses associated with cancer treatment can be overwhelming. By offering free transportation, we help alleviate the financial burden on families, allowing them to allocate those resources to other essential aspects, such as medicine, food or additional care.

Most of the children here are treated mainly for Leukemias: But an ALL entails a long treatment process since it involves an average of 3 and a half years of treatments with a weekly transfer, with an average cost for them (if they had to pay on your own to ensure the child's chemotherapies) between USD$40 to USD$100 for each transfer per week for approximately 50 weeks in a year times 3.5 which results in USD$6125 to USD$17,500 per patient without counting transfers to the CDMX which on average are about USD$250.00 when they go for a checkup.

Added to the cost of transportation is the cost of the food provided daily, which is breakfast and lunch, which varies by the type of food and whether it is breakfast or lunch, whether it is for a child, adolescent or an adult.

III.    FACILITATION OF FAMILY ASSISTANCE:

The transportation service also allows parents and caregivers to accompany their children to medical appointments without worrying about how to get there. This family presence is vital for the child's emotional well-being, as the support of loved ones helps reduce anxiety and fear associated with treatment.

IV.    PROMOTING ADHERENCE TO TREATMENT:

When families have access to free, reliable transportation, they are more likely to attend all scheduled appointments and follow recommended treatments. This increases adherence to treatment plans, which can result in better health outcomes and a higher recovery rate.

V. COMMUNITY PROMOTION AND SOCIAL SUPPORT:

The shuttle service also creates opportunities for families to connect with each other. By sharing the journey, parents can exchange experiences, advice and emotional support. This network of solidarity can be crucial to families' emotional well-being as they find understanding in those facing similar challenges.

VI.    IMPACT ON THE MENTAL HEALTH OF FAMILIES:

Access to free transportation not only benefits children, but also improves the mental health of their families. By eliminating a significant source of stress, such as transportation, parents can focus on what really matters: caring for their children. This allows them to better manage the emotional stress and pressures resulting from the diagnosis.

In our community, there are many little warriors facing cancer. Every day, they and their families travel long journeys. Many of them need frequent transfers, and this represents an enormous financial burden.

That's why we come to you today: we want to make the road to their recovery a little easier.

Join us in this noble cause! Help us make a better future possible for children with cancer and their families.
