- Our service was soft launched on 1 December 2016 and the centre was officially opened on 8 June 2017.
- We adopt 'Strength-based Family Centered' approach and 'Evidence-based Practice' to provide practical, psychological, social and spiritual care services to cancer patients and their families residing in the Kwai Chung, Tsing Yi, Tsuen Wan and Tung Chung area. All our services are free.
- Kwai Chung is an urban area in the New Territories. Together with Tsing Yi Island, it forms the Kwai Tsing District of Hong Kong. 520,000 people (7.1% of Hong Kong population) live in Kwai Tsing.
Population characteristics:
* Over 60% of the people in the district are in the low income bracket.
* 16.7% of the population are aged 65 or above.
* Residents of Kwai Tsing are of the third lowest educational level in Hong Kong.
* Household income is below average.
- Service summary:
* A total of 5,754 users and their family members were served from December 2016 to July 2017.
* The number of case management increased 26% during April 2017 to July 2017 when compared with December 2016 to March 2017.
* The average number of visitors per day increased 26% during April 2017 to July 17 when compared with December 16 to March 2017.
* Total 122 groups/workshops of 279 sessions had been organized with 3,792 attendance.
