Support Kenyan Orphans: Food, Education & Shelter

Dear Donors,

We are grateful for the continued support and prayers for the children and staff at Gateway Orphanage. Although this reporting period has been challenging, we remain hopeful and thankful for every contribution that helps sustain the children’s care and education.

During the past months, Gateway experienced a serious malaria outbreak that required significant attention and resources. Many of the children and adults caring for them were affected. Even baby Katie, Geoffrey’s young daughter, became seriously ill. Prompt medical care was provided, and we are thankful that she has been recovering, although it took time for her strength to return.

Despite these health challenges, progress at the orphanage has continued little by little through the generosity of donors and supporters. We were able to purchase small plastic chairs for the students, as many of the children had previously been sitting on the floor during lessons. This simple addition has greatly improved comfort and dignity for the younger students.

We have also managed to produce 300 building blocks for the construction of new toilet facilities currently being drilled on the property. These improvements are important steps toward creating a healthier and safer environment for the children.

Construction of the new dormitory also continues gradually whenever donations are received. In addition, ongoing maintenance of the school buildings and existing dormitory is carried out whenever necessary to ensure the children have a safe and supportive environment.

One of the photos includes the students lined up patiently and joyfully, preparing to receive a hot meal together. Even during difficult times, the children continue to show gratitude, unity, and happiness in the small blessings they receive each day.

One of the continuing challenges for Gateway is the lack of monthly committed support through GlobalGiving. Without regular monthly donations, planning and budgeting for school fees, food, medical care, and maintenance remains difficult and uncertain from month to month.

As a Christian school and orphanage, Gateway continues to nurture the children spiritually as well as academically. The children participate in daily prayers and worship, rejoicing together in songs about God’s love and faithfulness.
