Malaria has many faces. In Katulikire, almost everyone experiences malaria every year. Often multiple times. They come to Katulikire Health Center for life-saving treatment. Stella and her baby, Janepher, have both had malaria this year. Fortunately, Stella knows the signs and symptoms and comes for timely treatment. The staff at Katulikire care deeply about the community and work 24 hours daily to take care of the people, but they do not have the resources to help those most severely affected by malaria. Malaria nets are therefore extremely important in preventing malaria and saving lives. Targeting Janepher when she reaches school in 3-4 years will protect her throughout her schooling. She will sleep under the net with her siblings. Targeting the older, high school aged students, will protect them through their schooling, and when they become parents, like Stella, they will sleep with their babies under the nets. Katulikire Health Center provides life-saving treatment every day. Protecting the population with malaria nets helps people avoid the severest forms of malaria.
