With almost half of the spring semester complete, we are enthusiastic to tell you that we have accomplished a tremendous amount this semester. So much of this success is a result of your generosity. We continue to partner with Himalayan Health Care (HHC), which remains a strong seven-year relationship. We are getting increasingly closer to fully funding our current project to provide cookstoves, goats, and latrines to families in the northern Dhading District of Nepal. This allows families to live healthier lives which they may not otherwise have had access to. So, thank YOU for providing this ability to the people of Northern Nepal.
This year our chapter excited to send a group of our members to Nepal this summer to participate as part of our GROW team. The GROW trip allows our student members to see first-hand what work has been done in these Nepalese communities and allows us to further build a stronger bond with our partner.
We are eager to attend the upcoming 2017 GlobeMed Summit Conference later this March in Chicago. This year’s conference theme is Leading Bravely: Finding Strength in Diversity. Attending this event will provide our team an invaluable opportunity to network with other GlobeMed chapters while sharing new ideas with one another that we can bring back here to Boulder. We will be sending 11 representatives and even meeting up with an alumna who is also attending.
The members of our chapter are truly outstanding. There is a unique talent each member brings to our community that GlobeMed would just not be the same without. Combining drive, empathy, and thoughtful problem solving are only a few of the strengths this chapter holds. We have recently completed our new Co-President position selections and are very excited to see where Kelsie and Valerie lead us in the future.
We have been hard at work organizing events to allow us to connect with the community around us. The campaigns team hosted a spectacular benefit brunch this year. Thank you all who we able to attend and we hope you enjoyed the event as much as we did. Campaigns has additionally organized two eat-to-feed events and is working hard on designing this year’s GlobeMed t-shirt. Marketing is hard at work on videos to help educate us all further about Nepal and has produced top-notch posters that we have posted around campus to spread the world about GlobeMed. ghU has continued to provoke us to think deeply about the issues that impact the world around us and facilitates a safe environment for sharing new ideas with one another. Community outreach has done a great job of further strengthening the bond between our members through community events, promoting connection and comradery.
