Our semester here at GlobeMed has gone by so quickly with lots of great learning opportunities for our members and fantastic events. We are looking forward to spring semester as we have quite a few more events coming up! Our partnership with Himalayan Healthcare continues to develop along with our relationship with our CU Boulder community.
The Colorado Global Health Conference, themed around girls’ empowerment, occurred in November and was a fantastic opportunity for us to get to know the other GlobeMed chapters in the state and learn more about Global Health. Our Keynote speaker was Celeste Montoya, a professor in Women & Gender Studies here at CU Boulder, and we also had an incredible panel of speakers including David Hintch, Stefanie Mollborn and Sue Hammerton, all of whom have quite impressive backgrounds in public health and working with women around the world. It was a great learning experience for everyone involved!
Our partnership with Himalayan Healthcare has also developed, and this year we have decided to sponsor the building of a school in the Dhading District in Nepal. All of the funds that we have and will raise throughout the 2015-2016 school year will go towards the building of this new school.
Locally, our relationship with organizations at CU Boulder has also grown as we have started to talk to other health-oriented organizations about how we go about the incredible challenge of global health equity and do so in a sustainable way. In addition, we continue to keep ourselves educated about global occurrences and healthcare around the world with the lessons provided to us by our Global Health University Coordinators.
We have also been planning lots of incredible events for next semester. We will be hosting our annual benefit dinner and will also be adding a 5K run to our events. Currently, our teams are working hard to find donors and supporters for these events.
Thank you again for your donations to GlobeMed at CU Boulder. We truly appreciate your support and your boundless generosity!
