On the morning of August 26, 2026, an avalanche-triggered flash flood swept through the Bhotekoshi river, devastating villages across Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and Dhading districts in Nepal. 1113 people died and 4773 missing and more than 60000 have lost their homes, roads, and access to basic necessities. UniCoN is mobilizing to reach affected communities immediately with emergency relief including food, clean drinking water, hygiene kits, and temporary shelter materials who lost everything.
On August 26, 2026, Nepal was struck by devastating flash floods along the Bhotekoshi/Trishuli River system, affecting Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha, and Chitwan districts. By now, 1366 people have been confirmed dead, with more 5326 still missing. An estimated 60,000 people have been severely affected, with extensive damage to homes, roads, schools, bridges, and hydropower infrastructure. A major highway link between Betrawati and the Rasuwagadhi border crossing has been washed away.
UniCoN is mobilizing emergency relief teams to support flood-affected families in Nuwakot and Dhading. Working with Bidur Municipality, we are providing food, school kits, and sanitary materials to people staying in holding centers, including more than 400 people at one center. We have already delivered school kits and sanitary materials to 400 children. We are now supporting women and elderly people with essential supplies to help them rebuild their lives. Your support will help us reach more.
The project will help flood-affected families meet their basic needs and prepare to rebuild their lives. Children will receive school materials so they can continue learning without a gap in education. Women and elderly people will receive essential items for daily needs. We will also continue supporting families during recovery, helping them rebuild their lives, return to normal activities, and move toward a more stable future. We will listen and respond to their needs as they recover.
