On August 26, a glacier collapse triggered flash floods across central Nepal, destroying entire communities. Two of the hardest-hit districts, Nuwakot and Dhading, are areas where One Heart Worldwide has worked for years alongside the Government of Nepal. Now, vulnerable families have lost everything. Our team is supporting the government's emergency response by delivering shelter, food, emergency supplies, and safe healthcare for women and newborns who have lost their homes. You can help today.
On August 26, a glacier collapse triggered flash floods across central Nepal, destroying homes, health facilities, roads, and entire villages. Thousands of families have been displaced, and hundreds have died. Pregnant women, new mothers, and newborns are among those hardest hit. Cut off from safe care and clean water, they face rising risks of infection and dangerous complications at the moment they are most fragile, in districts where One Heart Worldwide has worked for years.
One Heart Worldwide is already on the ground, working alongside the Government of Nepal. We are delivering emergency supplies to affected families, including shelter, food, and dignity kits. We are helping health facilities continue providing safe maternal and newborn care by supplying essential medicines, equipment, and infection-prevention supplies. And we are coordinating closely with all tiers of government and other organizations so that help reaches the families who need it most.
Because we work through Nepal's own health facilities and healthcare providers, this response does more than meet immediate needs. It helps restore the local systems that mothers and newborns will depend on long after the floodwater is gone. By rebuilding the capacity of health facilities in districts we have served for years, alongside the Government of Nepal, we help these communities recover and prepare for the future, so families can access safe care for generations to come.
