Dear All Friends,
Cora here...Warm greetings and thank you very much for your kind donation so that we can pump-prime our work in Nepal. Already we have identified a local volunteer who studied with my son Jed at the Coady International Institute in Canada. Jed will be travelling to Nepal in a few days.
News in Nepal especially areas outside Kathmandu is dire. May I enclose message of our volunteer based in Kathmandu;
------------------------------------
Most of the relief and rescue operations are focused only in Kathmandu valley, but some other districts need urgent and immediate response than Kathmandu. For example, Sindupalchok district, which is very nearer to Kathmandu valley and till now 2000 people have lost their lives (government is saying that the no. will goes above 5000), which is the highest number and almost 90% houses are completely destroyed. Till today none of the government people have reached there. people are looking for tents, food, water, hygiene kits. Many dead bodies are still there and there is higher chances of problem in near future.
So if possible I would request you to pledge support for district like Sindupalchok.
I have very good network with community organization of Sindupalchok called "Tuki Association Sunkoshi". They have access and can mobilize their staff at the ground level. For the further guarantee and effective distribution of relief materials I would be always there for day to day updates and communication.
