So proud to share with you one of the young women who has benefitted from the school lunches you have supported at the Lycée Moderne de l’Amitié (combined middle/secondary school in northern Burkina Faso). Fanta just completed her middle and secondary school education at the lycée, concentrating her studies in science. This fall, she enters university to study biomedical sciences, with the aim of working in a medical laboratory for which she says there is a crucial need in Burkina.
Fanta comes from a village. Her father is a subsistence farmer. Fanta underscores the importance of a noon meal at the lycée. Like her fellow students, she had no place else to go for a noon meal and no money to pay for one; and like her fellow students, she spent her noon break after lunch studying for her classes. She credits the school lunch program, along with committed faculty, for contributing to her success.
Fanta is just one of many young village women who have high aspirations and who work hard to achieve them. We are proud to support the education of such talented young women who will contribute to the needs of Burkina Faso. Fanta is most grateful to Global NEEED Burkina and to GlobalGiving donors for supporting her school lunches and asks that we continue to support the school lunch program for children of vulnerable families.
