Centre for Faith and Community Development (CFCD) in partnership with Foundation for Intercultural and Interreligious Dialogue Initiatives (FIIDI) has launched the SEEDS OF UNITY PROJECT in Nigeria and Sierra Leone. The Seeds of Unity Project- Our National Anthem- our National Pledge: Transforming Words into Action, is a collaboration between Foundation for Intercultural and Interreligious Dialogue Initiatives (FIIDI) and Centre for Faith and Community Development (CFCD) in Nigeria and Sierra Leone. Twenty five (25) students, representing five schools, including 5 teachers attended the launch of the project on Thursday, May 16, 2024, in Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria
The aim of this project is to work with young people in primary and secondary schools with a focus on transforming the Nigerian and Sierra Leonean National Anthems and National Pledges from words into action. Up until now, little or no effort has been focused on the importance of the National Anthem and the National Pledge as a unifying tool for religious and cultural tolerance. Therefore, this project aims to educate a generation of young people using the lyrics of the National Anthem and the National Pledge as a unifying tool that helps promote patriotism and peace far beyond tribal (culture), religious, and political affiliation.
