Summer Adventure Kids visiting Border Patrol!
Summer Adventure Kids visiting Border Patrol!

Dear Friends,

It's hard to believe, but fall is here, and school is back in session. That means that for the 9th consecutive year, NAAF will be providing the Academic After-School Program at two locations in GuVo District; GuVo Village, and Ali Chugk.

First, a quick recap of our GuVo Summer Adventure Program:

This year's SAP was a big hit! At full enrollment, 30 youth participated in our 6-week program this year.

 Highlights included:

Truck of Love Camp
Traditional Tohono O'odham arts & crafts
Gardening and Saguaro Fruit harvesting (bahidaj)
Outdoor recreation with HOPP, including water games, basketball, volleyball, and kickball
Field trips
Healthy meals and snacks served every day

These two programs combined serve 65 amazing kids from GuVo District. That means that those 65 kids will have access to quality educational services, healthy meals and snacks, STEM activities, drug & alcohol prevention, traditional Tohono O'odham arts & crafts, and O'odham language lessons!

This year, NAAF begins the first phase of its Language Program, which will ultimately document and preserve the O'odham language, as well as teaching lessons to youth and adults alike. We at NAAF are EXTREMELY excited about this project, as we know first hand how important it is to preserve and document this endangered language.

All of NAAF's wonderful success stories, programs, and events are possible thanks to your generous contributions, and we at NAAF thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Together we are bringing positive change to the GuVo District and Tohono O'odham Nation.

                                                Thank you so much!
