Pitching Day event

Dear GlobalGivers,

Hello again! It has been three months since we updated you about the first event of Narrow The Gap 2019. So many things we have achieved together that I am very excited to share with you:

We completed the First Round on Sunday 23rd April with the Pitching Day was organized to select 6 winners to receive grants from Narrow The Gap. At the event, 10 Finalists presented their projects and answered all the questions from the audience. Our Grant Allocation Committee and everyone in the community had a chance to ask the questions and provided their valuable feedback to all the candidates. We are impressed with the diversity & breadth of the projects submitted to the program, from raising awareness of cancer understanding in Vietnam, promoting rights of Queer community through learning Vietnamese history, supporting provincial students in developing entrepreneurship skillsets & community-oriented mindset, to building bridges in Mekong Delta's provinces to increase the accessibility for local communities to education & business opportunities.

Furthermore, as the result, a few connections have been made at the event between nonprofit organizations and with donors. Nearly 100 residents from the commmunity, half of them were under 25 year old, went to the event and casted their votes for their favorite projects, it positively proved the increasing interest of local Vietnamese, especially young people in social causes and community impact.

If you want to learn more about the six winning projects, please click here.

The Second Round will be kicked off soon on 22nd June to introduce about this round of grants, at the event, the participants will receive helpful information of the program such as:

  • Available funds for the projects
  • Training activities for capacity building
  • Volunteer opportunities for community projects
  • Site visit opportunities to learn about the projects and meet the end beneficeries
  • Community Day for everyone in the community who share the same goal of contributing to sustainable development in Vietnam.

Thank you again for making all this happen. We hope you will not only continue to support Narrow the Gap so that we will be able to provide more funding and capacity building opportunities for local nonprofit organizations in Vietnam, but also spread the words to your friends, family and your network by sharing this page https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/narrow-the-gap-vietnam-is-awesome/ to help our cause reach to more people.
