Here at Baan Unrak, we share a deep connection with Myanmar-many of us are from there. As news began to arrive, our hearts grew heavy. Seeing our people, our roots, in so much pain deeply affected all of us. Relief efforts has already began and we are have already used up most of what we have. Your support is critical to our continuation.
Many has access and is already helping in Thailand. Our efforts are going to be focused on Myanmar relief only as our roots run deep in Myanmar and this enable us to deploy relief efforts faster, and more efficiently at the epic centre of the disaster. In fact, we are the first relief effort to reach this small town.
Many families used to live in rented apartments and now have no land of their own. About 250 people will need to take refuge in the local temple. Unfortunately, the temple has only one working toilet due to earthquake damage. We want to support them by repairing the five damaged toilets (for 80 euros each) and building five new toilets (for 200 euros each). They also urgently need a new well, which will cost about 500 euros to construct.
After the rainy season, the displaced families will gradually leave the temple and rebuild their lives. Meanwhile, the temple will continue to benefit from the new toilets and the well, serving the broader community during local events and functions that draw large gatherings. This project will not only meet the immediate needs of the displaced families but also leave a lasting positive impact on the whole community.
