It's raining
Right now, in Bergnek it's the spring rainy season and it's time to get the gardens growing again after the long dry winter. We technically started preparations at the beginning of October and I can't believe it's already November. Time moves so quickly and yet we still have little tummies to fill with good healthy food.
It may be raining in Bergnek, right now, but that water goes away really quickly as the summer approaches in just 6 short weeks in the southern hemisphere. As we wrote in the last update, The My World in a Garden vertical vegetable gardens are so important to produce food in small spaces and where there is either a dire shortage of water or a huge excess of water. The gardens also provide the food needed to support the young girls and young women in our GirlStuffPeriod.org programs, as you know, and the continued support of the program is vital in the lives of the people we work alongside and serve.

We're using the #DontTalkTakeAction hashtag to promote our yearend giving cycle and you are key in the process. Refer us to your friends, family and co-workers. If you have a corporate giving program at work where you can make a donation through your company, please, make that donation to the families of the My Arms Wide Open communities. #DontTalkTakeAction
How many My World In a Garden walls does it take to feed 1,000 children?
The answer is simple. We can properly feed one hundred and fifty (150) children from each forty-foot (40') wall and that means we need seven (7) of those to get healthy food to all the kids in Bergnek. We've become really GREAT at building our My World in a Garden vertical gardens and can now build a wall with all the drip systems and plants for just under $2,000. Guess what? we need 6 more, so we are looking to raise $12,000 before yearend.

Thank you for your contributions, your messages and for sharing the work we do with the wonderful people of Bergnek. We appreciate you and the people of Bergnek most certainly do too.
We won't give up on the communities we serve, and we know you won't either!
