Hands of Mercy is a charitable organization whose major objective is to give care and support to senior citizens and their orphaned grand children....... We offer assisted living facilities in George Compound......
Some of the elderly are survived by their orphaned grand children because their parents have since died to HIV/AIDS and other related diseases....... Hands of Mercy extended it's services to the orphaned grand children by providing them with TAILORING SKILLS......
This skill will and have reduced the level of taking abusive substance , and increased in making income for their homes ........
The youths who agreed to embark on TAILORING have shown that they will be able to do business and fend for their homes......
The target population is 150 youths........19 youths who started in September will finish in April.....27 youths who are on rehab..... They come and go home . . ... This is a risk, because there is a chance that they will go back to taking abusive substance. We still don't have a facility where we will be able to monitor their progress indoors.
CHALLENGES.
We need a secure facilty where we will be able to monitor the progress on youths on rehab.
We need capital to buy raw materials like: cotton, material, maintenance of the sewing machines, inorder for us continue with this Skills Development........
CONCLUSION
We are happy with the steady progress we are making........ The 19 youths, when empowered, will start a TAILORING business or could get a TAILORING job and eventually be able to put food on the table,reduce poverty.
