By Felipe Velasco | Project Leader
Dear GlobalGiving Supporters,
We are excited to share a major milestone: our Muyso Wetland School (MWet) was selected for MaEarth’s Round 3 global campaign (linked here). While our GlobalGiving community fuels our core educational mission for rural youth, this MaEarth partnership specifically is helping to accelerate the development of our "Citizen Science & Restoration Hub".
During July 2026, we leveraged MaEarth’s quadratic funding model to unlock matching funds through a high volume of unique donors (76 donors, this was a fantastic result for us). These resources will equip our Xieti Reserve headquarters with native species nurseries, solar energy, and an automated monitoring station. By uniting GlobalGiving’s support for training with MaEarth’s infrastructure focus, we are building a sustainable platform to train an estimated 300+ annual Climate Guardians for Lake Tota.
Your continued commitment across both fronts makes this transformation possible.
With gratitude,
Felipe Velasco
Director at Fundación Montecito
