Muslims for American Progress

We just cannot thank you enough for your generous donations in support of ISPU’s Muslims for American Progress (MAP) project. This project counters misconceptions by presenting the facts and telling the human stories of a deeply misunderstood American community. Through MAP, we aim to create safe spaces for conversations and dialogue, and as result help in protecting rights and safeguarding pluralism in the United States.  

What we are doing is working. In the last few months, we presented the MAP project to communities across the nation. We exhibited the photo narratives in two locations in Washington, DC. The World Affairs Council is currently hosting a 3-month exhibit of ISPU’s MAP photo narratives in San Francisco that was kicked off by a data-sharing presentation. And we did a photo narrative exhibit for 250 attendees, including a Senator, Mayor and locally elected officials, to the kick off of a training of 100 faith leaders in the Pacific Northwest. We have presented the MAP findings in many communities across the state of Michigan. And the requests keep on coming. Wherever we have taken MAP, we have been amazed with the conversations this project sparks, the dialogue it promotes and the spirit of understanding and compassion it generates. We are especially thrilled and honored to receive a 2018 Wilbur Award from the Religion Communicators Council! Our video "An American Without Muslims?", released one year ago was just named the social media winner in the digital communications category: Thank you for being part of this success story.

That is not all. We are finalizing the data collection for the second phase of MAP (MAP-NYC), and we are so excited and looking forward to release the findings and stories this summer. Stay tuned! We cannot wait for you to see it.
