Muslims for American Progress

Thank you once again for your kind and generous donation in support of ISPU’s Muslims for American Progress (MAP) project, which aims to build understanding, protect rights and safeguard pluralism in the United States. Our success is your success!

And the good news is that successful it is!  MAP is ramping up its efforts to make waves in countering bigotry and Islamophobia by combining hard data with real human stories. While we finalize data collection for the MAP-NYC case study, we have taken the MAP-MI case study to locations across the country. The portraits, the stories, and the data sparked new conversations, and created platforms for much needed dialogue.

Where have we been?  Here is a sampling.  At the Detroit Science Center, we were honored to do a pop up exhibit and research sharing event in conjunction with the 1001 Inventions exhibit.  The Facebook live stream video of the event has been viewed over 3,000 times and can be watched here.  And, in Washington DC, famed eatery and gathering place, Busboys and Poets, hosted the MAP project for an evening photo narrative exhibit and data sharing event.  The photo narratives continue to be on display at 3 other Busboys and Poets locations around DC. And last but not least, the World Affairs Council of America invited ISPU to share its MAP project with the heads of each chapter nationwide at their annual conference!  As a result, the World Affairs Council and ISPU are looking to take the show on the road, starting with a 3 month exhibit in San Francisco.  

Thank you for enabling ISPU’s MAP project to build understanding.  It is your partnership that has made it possible.  We look forward to updating you again in a few months as there are some exciting things coming along as we continue to build bridges and share an objective narrative of a deeply misunderstood community.
